Classic Mountain Town
Hendersonville, North Carolina (and it’s next-door neighbor, Flat Rock) exudes charm and friendliness the way a familiar quilt spreads warmth. In many ways, Hendersonville is the quintessential mountain town-it’s extra-wide Main Street was designed that way so that turn-of-the-century wagons could do full U-turns. Today, the wide street is ideal for sidewalk dining and window-shopping. A number of cafes, coffeehouses, pubs, clothing stores, and boutiques stretch up and down Main that invite visitors to spend a leisurely afternoon. Nearby highlights include the nationally recognized Flat Rock Playhouse, Sky Top Apple Orchard, the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, and the 10,000-acre DuPont State Forest.
